Tell a story in six words? Hemingway did it: “For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.”
You can do it, too.
Miami Book Fair wants your Miami-influenced six-word story. Memoir, fiction, fantasy? All good. Funny, sad, sexy? Cool! It doesn’t matter to us, as long as it has something to do with the Miami that matters to YOU.
Your six-word story could get you invited to read at this year’s Book Fair. Or yours could be one of the stories published in a limited-edition postcard set.
“The #6WordsMiami project is a way to get everyone out there involved with the Fair, and a light-hearted, simple way to inspire creativity,” said Lissette Mendez, programs director for The Center for Literature and Theatre. “All are encouraged to participate. Everyone can add their voice. Miami Book Fair, to me, is Miami’s most inclusive event, and this is a way for all Miamians to feel included.”
Submit early. Submit often. Submit in English, Spanish, or Creole. There’s no limit to how many #6WordsMiami stories you can send in. Just do it by October 15.
How to submit your #6WordsMiami story:
Via email: 6wordsmiami@gmail.com; facebook.com/MiamiBookFair; twitter.com/MiamiBookFair (use hashtag #6wordsmiami).
