In 1999, Luciana Abait, Karina Chechik, Pablo Contrisciani, Daniel Fiorda, and Carolina Sardi, five Argentinean artists who were resident artists at ArtCenter/South Florida, organized the exhibition Departures/Arrivals at the Richard Shack Gallery. Although they did not know each other prior to arriving to Miami Beach, they shared a country of origin and the desire to grow, experiment, and evolve, as artists and as human beings. In 2014, the group decided to get together again for Departures/Arrivals II (1999-2014) rethinking their individual approaches to ideas of departure, arrival, destination, travel, and discovery.
